barbarah Posted February 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2014 We've just booked a last minute Oasis cruise and one of our adult daughters doesn't have a passport. There's not enough time for her to get a passport before we leave. The RCCL agent told me all she needs is a certified copy of her birth certificate, her marriage license and a current driver's license. Her marriage license will connect her maiden name to her married name which is on her driver's license. Just want to see if others have done this with no problems. Thanks. Royal2464 Posted February 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2014 You got the correct answer. Be VERY sure she brings all three documents with her to the pier. Otherwise you may be waving goodbye to her as you sail away.
Buckeye State Cruisers Posted February 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2014 and originals, not copies! ;)
xxoocruiser Posted February 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) IMPORTANT Birth Certificate must be issued from a City, County or State office. A Hospital issued BC is not acceptable and the person can be denied boarding. [/b] Edited February 25, 2014 by xxoocruiser
nolesrule Posted February 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2014 and originals, not copies! ;) Certified copies are what's needed. Originals are what are kept on file by the record keeping agencies.
Rare markeb Posted February 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2014 When are you cruising and where do you live? The above is certainly true; certified copies of birth certificate, marriage certificate, and a driver's license will work on a closed loop cruise. If you have all of those, and are near a passport office, you CAN get a passport in 5 days or less. There is an extra fee, but it does cut down on what she'll need to carry. And, you'll know for sure you have the right documents... http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/information/where-to-apply/agencies.html
FireStation46 Posted February 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Market had it spot-on. Do the expired for the extra fee and have no travel issues for the next 10 years nor worry if the others documents will work or not. Call your local congressman and explain your situation and ask him if he would ask the Passport folks to please put it though quickly. Good luck and have a fun trip.
