speciality restaurant advance reservation

I wanted to reserve a certain day and time for the Normandy restaurant on our May cruise and all went well until they asked for a payment. I wanted to use part of my on board credit but the

only way to pay was to use a credit card. Any way to use my OBC.?

To my knowledge, the only way to use an OBC for a specialty restaurant is to book it once onboard.

On board credit can only be used.......on board. If you must have a certain date and time you'll have to pay with a credit card in order to book ahead of time. You can always use your o.b.c. for gratuities, drinks, or shore excursions.

This is the same problem with folks who reserve Select Dining. They have to pay ahead of time, so they can't use their OBC to pay for their gratuities.
