55J5-5 Posted February 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2014 For those that have done this how cold is the water basically? Family is looking at taking a boat/snorkel tour in Feb 2014 at Nassau, Bahamas. Checking to see if we should really book something or its just to cold to be enjoyed. Also, we are looking at Seahorse sailing. Any others we should check out? Thanks for all the help.
Caric Posted February 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2014 We just got back. We went snorkeling at Paradise Cove in Freeport and the weather was great. The water was a little cold when we first got in but it was not really that cold. We were hesitant about the water temps in February too but you should not have anything to worry about. klaner64 Posted February 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2014 We snorkeled in Freeport in January. It was only 76 degrees, but the water was about 80. It felt great after coming from below 0 temps in WI. It just depends on what temperature you are used to.
55J5-5 Posted February 28, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted February 28, 2014 Most of us will be coming from Maine, so the water will be warmer but just wanted to make sure it will be enjoyable.
tikib Posted February 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2014 Actually, the water temps in February are closer to 70.. a bit chilly. This season has been unexpectedly cold, so the water hasn't warmed up much.
Laurab23 Posted February 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2014 What should water be like the end of April? Laura
klaner64 Posted February 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2014 Where our guide took us (out on a reef) he took water temp (around 80 degrees) give or take. By April I would guess it would be in high 80's.
tikib Posted February 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2014 80 doesn't happen until the summer months.. http://www.water-temperature.com/bahamas

OCruisers Posted February 28, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2014 He must have been pulling our leg then. Yes! Unfortunately, the Water temperatures in the Bahamas are not 80 in February. :o A cruise to the Caribbean, not the Bahamas, is needed.
OCruisers Posted February 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2014 What should water be like the end of April? Laura Laura, since you are from upper NY, you should be OK at the end on April ... especially on sunny days! :) LuLu ~~~
