KPfromCT Posted February 27, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted February 27, 2014 No problem. We've all had weeks (and sometimes posts:p) like that.:) I really appreciate the apology, and I hope your week gets better. And I understand the excitement.;) Yes, if you were to fly in the day before, it would make the priority boarding and early cabin access parts of FTTF more 'worth it'. But then you'd need to balance that against spending extra money on the hotel and food while in Florida. I'm one who likes to fly (or drive) in the day before a cruise, so I'd probably do that anyway. So I guess I'm not going to be much help here.:p:o LOL! That would be my first choice too, but I am married to a CPA. CPA = CHEAP:D He doesn't see the "need" to fly in a day early. Apparently planes don't have mechanical issues :ROLL EYES: Groan..... I am going to work on him to fly in on Friday. I really want to check out Bayside Marketplace....... Thank you again!!!!!
RWolver672 Posted February 28, 2014 #27 Share Posted February 28, 2014 I'm not sure that the FTTF gets off the ship with the Platinum/Diamond folks. When we were leaving the Pride on the 16th, there was a FTTF group that were asked to leave the area we (Platinum guests) were in, since that wasn't part of FTTF. I'm not sure if they can get off before other guests, but they definitely weren't able to get off with Platinum/Diamond. And I didn't hear them saying to go to another area on the ship to wait to get off earlier than the others. That may depend on the port. We had FTTF for the Freedom out of FLL. The last night before we departed, we were given Zone 1 luggage tags and told to report to an area off the MDR. It had the Platinum/Diamond and FTTF people in it. When they started the debarkation process, we were all escorted off the ship together.
Rare Tapi Posted February 28, 2014 #28 Share Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) On a side note, there's not a single cruise out there worth risking for by flying in on the day of departure. While I'm sure someone will chime in and say how they always fly on the day of the cruise and nothing bad has ever happened, that is probably the single worst piece of advice routinely posted on this board. ibcnusoon Posted February 28, 2014 #29 Share Posted February 28, 2014 FTTF is a waste of money, it amazes me how people want to get into their cabin, what, an hour before anyone else can??? OP, I'd be more concerned about landing in Fort Lauderdale at 11 am and expecting to be at the Miami port by 12:30. By the time you collect bags, find transportation, it's a good 45 minute drive on a clear day.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app I think they just meant that since this cruise had no tender ports, FTTF wouldn't be worth it (that's one of the benefits), in addition to them not being able to use the early embarkation benefit since they were flying in the same day. Wow. What a run on sentence. Tapi, I always wondered if that's your dog--I love that picture.
ibcnusoon Posted February 28, 2014 #31 Share Posted February 28, 2014 We did book a 10:55 return, out of FLL:eek::eek:However, we did cruise on the Breeze last April, and were back at FLL at 9. Our flight didn't leave until 5:eek: Needless to say, Southwest did NOTHING for us. They were booked solid. I did get a little flamed for booking that flight but I am NOT sitting in that airport for 8 hours again:D I read a review where someone got a day pass to a resort in Fort Lauderdale. I forget which hotel, but that would give you peace of mind knowing you can make the flight as well as have something to do between disembarkment and a late afternoon/evening flight. StaceySteveDMB Posted February 28, 2014 #34 Share Posted February 28, 2014 I would have a heart attack if we were flying in the same day the cruise left. We are only a 3 1/2 hour drive from Miami and go down the day before. We have purchased and used FTTF on two cruises and it was well worth the $50.00. In addition to early embark, debark, and tender, you also get express luggage and priority line at guest services. For $50.00 it is well worth it to us to get our luggage faster and not have to wait in a huge line at guest services, but if you are platinum I guess it would make little or no difference. wickedhangover Posted February 28, 2014 #35 Share Posted February 28, 2014 Aww! Thanks!!!Yes, I am really a very normal person... This winter has been brutal up here in the Northeast. I need to get the HE** out of here......... Yes, I think it would be a waste for this cruise. $50 can buy a few DOD's.....we'll use the money for that instead. Thank you!:D we're from the new haven area and were on the breeze for all the snow, kind of wishing we did b2b2b2b2b now, it's freezing out there.
