Celebrity X Eclipse May 10th departing Southampton

Going on our first cruise on 10th May on Celebrity's Eclipse, still not too sure what we can wear on Formal Nights apart from ball gowns and tuxedos, and what to expect on the Eclipse?

People tend to dress up a bit more on transatlantic cruises, so you'll see some tuxedos on men, plus many in dark suits. Others will wear blazers with shirt & tie. Some will be in kilts :).

 

Ladies will wear everything from long gowns to cocktail dresses, to dressy pants with shiny tops. You will likely see few, if any, 'ball gowns'.

 

People may wear the same thing for one or more formal night. My husband only takes one white shirt & we send it out to be cleaned as packing is always an issue.

 

Know that there are options if you don't want to dress formally, but you'll have plenty of company is you do dress up. P

Can someone please define a "cocktail dress" for formal night? What length, style, fabric, colour, etc? I may just rely on a long black skirt or long black pants with varied tops. Thanks for any assistance, Susan
