Train to Barcelona Airport

Recommended Posts

Hello all. We are planning to book a hotel in Barcelona because of its proximity to the Barcelona Sants station where we could take the train to the airport. We would be leaving Barcelona on Saturday May 10, and wanted to know how crowded the trains might be in the morning hours, and how easy (or difficult) it is traveling with luggage. Because this is a post-cruise vacation, we would probably have two rolling bags each. Thanks for your suggestions or any help you can provide.

If you have your mind made up..then disregard my post. But personally, we would not want to stay anywhere near that train station. It is just too far from the more popular parts of town for most visitors....i.e. the Ramblas, Gothic Quarter, etc. Our normal home away from home in Barcelona is the Hotel Colon (in the heart of the Gothic Quarter) but there are many other decent hotels in this nicer part of town. We do not normally worry about getting out to BCN since we just take a taxi (about 30 Euros). But there is also the Aerobus which we would use if concerned about saving a few Euros.

There is nothing wrong with the Sants train station area or with Plaza Espana. Many of the popular sites are also located in that area, like the dancing fountains, the art district , Montjuïc and the Arenas shopping in the old Bull-ring, with great restaurants and views.

I personally prefer the A1 or A2 bus that has easy access to/ rom both terminals.

The train is a little walk from Terminal 2 and if you are at Terminal 1 you must transfer over there by a free bus transfer.

The train is a fine option though and even continues over to the next stop, which is Gracia, which is in the Eixample, which most would consider the best district of Barcelona.

You should not find the trains exceptionally crowded on a Saturday morning.

The airport website is available in English and has all transfer information
