Emerald Princess European drinking age

Right I think i'm gonna ring up Princess, i'm very confused now

The Princess website says 'The legal drinking age of 21 years is always observed onboard all ships, 18 years on Grand Princess Mediterranean itineraries, and proof of age may be required.' That is outdated since Grand no longer sails out of the UK. I would assume the same will apply to Emerald sailings.

Proof of age required because there is no picture on the cruise card and this server cannot tell if the cruise card belongs to that person.

There is an indication of age on the cruise card.

o There is an A in the lower right after the number of cruise credits if the person is an adult.

o There is an * in that location if the person is 18-20 years old.

o That location is blank for someone younger than 18

Hey-thanks for that info.

Always wondered what that was!

DD has a card with a Butterfly in lower corner from Dawn Princess.

Do you know what that means?

When it comes to abiding by US laws, if states have differing laws with regards to legal drinking age, Princess abides by the more conservative. Except for a few international embarkation ports, Princess follows the 21YO drinking age.

OP-

Sorry you are confused.

Try checking passage contract at this link:

http://www.princess.com/legal/passage_contract/index.jsp

Be sure to check both versions.

You will guess that the first one pertains to you as the second one is for:

select voyages departing from ports within Australia (Sun Princess, Sea Princess and Dawn Princess), Japan (Sun Princess and Diamond Princess), Singapore (Sapphire Princess), China (Sapphire Princess), and Korea (Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess).

But your ship is specifically mentioned in the second contract.

Check it out and hope that clears it up for you.:)

Actually the drinking age here in Canada is 19 and has been for many years.

But yes, after he turned 19, and before he turned 21, my son was very irritated that he couldn't get a drink on board a cruise ship when in Europe or the Caribbean, where the drinking age is lower than 19! It does seem very strange to us that in the U.S. you can get married, vote, go to war, probably buy or own a gun, etc. before you're 21, but you can't have a beer!

Rather stupid eh?
