Cutting it close?

I know the cruise terminal in Ft. Lauderdale is close to the airport and we have a 2p flight home so we will have more than enough time, but I was wondering if we used Luggage Direct, and got off the ship first, would we make a 9:30a flight? I've never cut it this close before, but I was just wondering if I should try it.

If everything goes all right, and you self-disembark you could make it. People have said they've gotten to the airport by 8:30. To me it wouldn't be worth the worry ... or possible costs if I didn't make it.

 

edit: I don't think you can use Luggage Direct for such an early flight.

Is your cruise ending on a 'normal' cruise day, ie; Sat or Sun? If so, I would say no. Remember, you have various lines that all operate fairly similar schedules. So it's not just your vessel, but all of the other ones trying to disembark from their journeys as well. A vast majority may not be doing a hotel post-stay, (especially in a port like FLL).

 

I wouldn't chance it. You may not have the business traveler's at the airport, or the M-F traffic, but you will have all of the cruise traveler's at the airport, and all of that related traffic. All it takes is a few TSA employees to be out sick, and bam, one or two less lines available to get people through. That, and the people that refuse to take off their belt and slow things down, haha.

jtl513 is correct. You can only use Luggage Direct if your flight is after 11:30.
