We are cruising on the Breeze in July...

We are going to Grand Turk, Dominican, Curacao, and Aruba.

Isn't the Southern itinerary pretty much out of the Hurricane Belt?

Has anyone had issues/itinerary changes for this itinerary in the summer?

Thanks!!!!

P.S. The whole reason we booked this cruise was to finally get to Aruba.

I will be DEVASTATED if we miss it.:D

Anywhere in the Caribbean is in the "Hurricane Belt". July (especially early July) is early in the Hurricane season (prime time is late August to early October) but a hurricane can hit at any time so just be prepared. If the chance of missing Aruba is going to "devastate" you, maybe you should book a different time of the year that is not during hurricane season?

Thank you, for your response. I am truly glad to see that we are not travelling during "prime time":D:D

Unfortunately, now that DD is in high school, and cannot be pulled out for a week, we are paying the premium and sailing in the summer.:mad::mad:

I know we are taking our chances, but just hoping for the best!

Thanks again!!!!

I live in the Caribbean, while not impossible Aruba and Curacao are below the hurricane belt.........

........but your cruise may be diverted if there is a hurricane in the area. The only issue you could ever have is if a hurricane hit your port of departure on departure day.

In 2011 we sailed the Western Caribbean during late August. We were lucky in that the Caribbean was calm that week. But we were unlucky because Hurricane Irene hit New York (where we live).

Due to the disruptions in air travel we didn't get home for an extra three days, and even then we could only get a flight to Washington DC and had to drive the rest of the way home. Fortunately we had travel insurance, which paid for our hotel rooms and other costs associated with the delay.

You will be cutting across the Caribbean, so while those islands are south of normal hurricane routes, you are cutting right through the area to get there. You will sail, but might have to divert a little bit. Seas might be rough. I have traveled throughout the Caribbean in hurricane season for years and never encountered one.

Of course by typing that it will happen to me this summer. Oh well, I have travel insurance.

Thank you everyone, for your replies:D:D

This is our first " Hurricane Season " cruise. We normally cruise in April, but because DH is a CPA, and tax season doesn't end until April 15th, that ruins DD's April vacation.

Oh well, we'll roll with the punches.......

Just hoping for the best.

LOVED the graph. It's keeping me positive!!!:D:D

I went on that same itinerary with breeze. U will love it. The only place u have to worry about it grand Turk and Dominic . Aruba and curaçao is below the where they hit. But- it gets very warm there . Enjoy. The ship is beautiful .
