Snorkel near shore

Which area of 7 mile beach has the closest to shore snorkeling? Near Calico Jacks?, a specific hotel? Or Tiki? Shallow is good for my DS.

Seven Mile beach is a beautiful SAND BEACH

 

Sand Beach is not usually great snorkeling

 

at 7 Mile the coral is about a mile off shore ... you can snork' over sand ... and maybe find some coral at the extreme ends where the coral pinches back to shore .....

 

OR

 

Eden and Sunset areas are IRON SHORE .... no sand beach but that's because 'iron shore' is what they call it when the coral has become exposed over time. When you jump in from iron shore the coral is 'right there'

We were just there and snorkeled from 7 mile beach at the governors mansion. it is about 1.5 football fields swim to small coral reef there. quite a few fish. Nothing stellar, but nice and quiet. after that we walked about 10 min to Calico Jacks.

You can take a 1/4 mile walk to the right of the tender dock and snorkel at Eden Rock. There are some pet tarpon that will swim right in your face.

Love Eden Rock & hope to get there this Saturday. Last time we did a shore dive and saw THE biggest fish of all time hanging on the bottom. This will be a quick snorkel if the conditions are right. Good spot!
