Pan Am Pier to Old San Juan

Will be leaving from Pan Am Pier on the Jewel in July. Sailing isn't until 8:30 pm. Will be arriving at the ship 11 am. Want to board, have lunch, then leave the ship to walk around Old San Juan. I know I can get a taxi from the pier. Will it be as easy to get one going back to Pan Am Pier? When we visit San Juan we are usually docked right in the Old San Juan area. Should we walk to this area and hail a cab to get back to Pan Am Pier? How far is it from pier to pier?

There will be plenty of options for cabs to and from Old San Jan Juan to the Pan Am pier. You will need a cab for sure. My personal preference is to not tour San Juan if you are arriving the same day as you leave - too busy to cram it all in. If it is just a stop mid trip, then of course.

Here is a video I put on youtube to give a perspective of the distance, doable by taxi but not walking. You can see the Carnival Victory docked at the OSJ pier. When you are in OSj walking around you will easily be able to find a taxi anywhere to catch back to the ship, you won't need to walk back down to the pier area. :)
