Disney Dream- Onboard Tips and Tricks?

Hi everyone,

I will be boarding the Disney Dream on Thursday this week and have never been on this ship before. We will be 4 adults traveling with no kids. Does anyone have any tips/tricks about this ship? You know things like "Eat here during the lunch rush" or "Don't forget to check out XXX". I hate coming back from a cruise and then reading someone's TR and seeing something I would have loved to check out that I completely missed!

Thanks in advance!!!

If you want to do a tasting or mixology reserve it right away. We have done mixology and the cognac tasting. Both a lot of fun. Looking forward to something new on our next cruise. Sign up at guest services or the Deck 4 bar area.

Sun loungers are plentiful on deck 13. Servers deliver drinks to you. No kids passing through or hanging around like on deck 12.

Depending on how early you get on the ship Cabanas can be crazy busy.we liked Enchanted Garden for embark lunch. Drinks are brought to your table.

Love Skyline lounge!

If you want a nice quiet indoor spot during the day with a view, there's this little lounge (Meridian?) that tends to be very quiet and has an outdoor seating area too. As it gets later it becomes the waiting area for Palo and Remy

Another location is Outlook on deck 14, which they don't even really advertise.

We were so impressed with our Dream sailing last month, that we booked our family of 10 for August 2015.

We pretty much loved everything - especially being able to carry on any alcohol you want. It was great not having to run to a bar each time we wanted to enjoy something on the balcony.

We also loved ordering coffee when we got back to the cabin at night. They have wonderful large Thermos brand containers that kept the coffee hot until morning. Whenever you wake up, there's hot coffee waiting.

Shows were great - especially Believe. Movies Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks were 2 of the best we've seen this year.

Dining room - food was good, we had late dining and only went once. We chose other options because we're critical PITA when it's not our kids (grands) acting out.

All the Mickey bars you can eat $0 - at the parks, they're $3.75 each!

No casino - we did miss that our one sea day.

I'm sure we'll be back on before we take our children 08/15, but we'll have to find a bargain as this sailing for the 10 of us is like a down payment on a house.

Have a great time!

If you can take the tour called the Art of the Theme Show tour it's pretty good. I did it on the Fantasy and it points out cool things about the themeing/decor of the ship.

I took this on the Disney Wonder last April and LOVED it. Thank you for reminding me, I'd love to take it on this ship too!

Hmmm....Enchanted garden for lunch. That sounds like a good possibility. And my sister would LOVe the mixology, I'll be sure to check it out.

Yes, the alcohol part is very enticing and we'll also have balconies so we're looking forward to that as well.

I'm lucky that #1. I have a friend who works for Disney Cruise Line and tells me when they have last minute rates that are ridiculously affordable and #2. That I live in Orlando can can drive to Port Canaveral in like an hour. ;) I'm paying less than $900 for 2 balcony cabins for the 3 night cruise. (yes, I know kill me now!)

We live in Orlando as well, but I'm just not as vigilant as I should be searching for Disney bargains.

Enjoy your cruise!

It's hard to say because we enjoyed everything we did. Don't miss Believe, we loved it. 3 and 4 nights is just not enough time on this ship. We talked about what we didn't get to do when we got home because there just was not enough time. Our cruise was a 4 night.

After we booked a 4 night I was thinking the same thing. Will it be enough time? Sooooo we added a 3 night for a B2B. Can't wait.

Could you write little more about this tour. Is it only on the first day of the cruise ? Where should I sign for it ? I'll be on Wonder next January

We were disappointed when we learned the robes are Concierge perk and not routinely available in all cabins. But my sister had sailed DCL before and assured us we could request them anyway. So when we met our host the first day, we asked if we could borrow robes for the duration. He said he'd have to ask his supervisor, but when we returned to our stateroom after dinner, they were hanging on the hooks :D. Nothing better than the cozy robe while enjoying room service coffee on the balcony in the morning.

just got off the Dream on 4/17 - my DH and I enjoyed 4-day cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Adult areas - great! not crowded and quiet.

food - ok, not great (to our taste). Even the specialty restaurant didn't not impressed us when compared to other cruise lines.

Castaway Cay - Serenity Cay (adult area) great! not crowded, quiet and great BBQ lunch!

Rainforest (Thermal Spa) great! for the 4-day cruise, my DH and I paid $99/couple for unlimited use! we certainly used it many times and enjoyed it.

Night shows- outstanding Disney productions.

all the sodas and soft ice cream one can drink/eat - free of charge.

staterooms - Impeccable clean and spacious

Great firerworks on "pirate nite"

Great service thruout the ship.
