Pre paid vouchers

So I was checking out the site and threads on here in regards to the drink vouchers. Anyone does anyone know how they work exactly? I noticed some people mentioned they are paper tickets but are names pre printed on there? I like the idea of buying maybe the 10 milkshake, non alcoholic type drink vouchers for my kids but since we are split into two rooms I thought maybe if I bought two packages maybe they could share coupons if there is no pre printed information on them. Also I know I wanted to purchase the $72 dollar package for me but my mom is in my room too so do I just call msc direct to buy one for myself do I don't have to get one for her since she doesn't want one? Just want to make sure I understood the other threads right.

Hi Cathy

I have always found the drinks to be reasonably priced and have never bought a package. We have always bought the vouchers and used them just like paper tickets. They do not have a room number or name on them and are interchangeable between passengers. You get a package of 10 - 14 vouchers depending on what you buy. You can't buy them for mixed packages but an individual type e.g. for water - wine - beer - soft drinks - cocktails etc.. We usually buy a couple of cocktail ones, a water one and a couple of soft drink ones. You are able to buy them in the lounge area as you check in and you can buy them onboard if you run out.

My understanding is if you want a drink package it has to be bought by everyone travelling together including the children (there are particular all inclusive packages for kids) those in your cabin and those in other cabins that may be on the same booking.

I will not be buying a package because the next cruise we are taking my mum and my mother in law are going with us. Both are non drinkers but because I booked for them and we will eat at the same table - even though they are in separate rooms they still have to buy the package too.

You can buy one $72 package & share; there is no name on the tickets. You can book on MSC website, print receipt, collect in casino bar (show receipt). This amount gets added to the final bill. Same true for beer package. $72 package works out to $4.80 so I wouldn't use for milkshakes, coffee or ice cream which less than this amount. Beer ticket from package is $3.70 vs $5.75 bar price. Also $72 package can be bought on board but it's 15% more. Beer or $85 wine package are not sold on board.

Is the water package available for the Caribbean? I don't think it's listed on the website, but for those of us who don't want a full drink package but do want mineral water for meals and in the cabin, are there any packages available?

With the $72 package can wine not be a choice instead of a cocktail? I know there was a package that was only cocktails but I could swear I saw a package that had beer, wine, or cocktails.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi everyone,

I'm sailing on MSC Divina May 10th. My understanding is that the Escape package of vouchers doesn't have to be purchased by everyone sharing the cabin. But, when I tried to book it online it adds one of those packages for each of us. If i remove one package, it removes both. Can someone clarify for me if the Escape package can be booked for only one person?

Thanks!

@Marie Were on the same cruise, come over and join our roll call.

If you want to purchase 1 escape package, you will have to call in and order it though their reservations dept. I did mine yesterday as my sister and I are sharing the 1 package. Their website automatically adds the package to all cabin members even though the cost is per package. Hope this helps

Thanks for the quick response. I will call MSC.

The pluses and minuses of 'ordering'/'buying' voucher packages!

If you 'order', you must order for each person in the room, (example: 2 people in room, you can only order 2, 4, 6 etc. voucher books) but the order 'is' considered an on board expense, and will be added towards extra points in the loyalty club!

If you call in and 'buy' the money spent 'will not' be added towards extra cruise points, but you can order the 'exact' amount, like 1, that you want!

You can order the drink vouchers on the ship, but they will add 15% gratuity to your purchase!(about $10.)

MSC loyalty club can be joined after the 4th day on your cruise, so join when you get home, and the points from your cruise/on board spending will be added to your account!

I have tried booking drink vouchers a week out and it won't let me, I'm beyond frustrated !!!!

I leave Saturday and I've given up trying. Can you buy vouchers once on the ship???

Refer to past responses.

We are booked for our 1st MSC cruise next March. A Transatlanice from Sth America to Italy on Lirica.

Do all the ships have vouchers for drinks or even the same packages?

No, they do not have all of the packages available for all sailings. For whatever reason, the Escape package is not available for our 06 Dec 14 sailing for my DW. She decided to go with the beer package instead.

No they vary by the region the ship is sailing in. Often the repos have different ones again. The vouchers are usually available onboard but prices can vary.biggest differences are in some of the all inclusive and unlimited deals and wine and beer packages.

I believe you had to get your package orders in by Tuesday for your sailing this Saturday, you can order packages once you get on board. Your roll call had a lot of information on the packages.
