I notice that this is your very first Post. Congratulations and Welcome to Cruise Critic! :D

That said, I highly recommend doing day 2 of 3 in Moscow to break up the opulence of SPB and see some real city life. We took the Sapsan high speed train (be ready to get up very early as it's a 3+ hour trip). We loved it. We used Alla tours - and it was good but very fast-paced (and I'm talking all day and night non-stop). you might just get to see a Tattoo performance. That was very cool... Make sure you ride the subway - it's wonderful. Stay close to your guide. :) I think tourists will be OK in Russia despite the political drama. We are glad we went and hope others are not dissuaded. The Sapsan train had some problems on the way home (late night) and we ended up taking a flight from the little Moscow airport on Areoflat and it was a total trip. Fun and wierd at the same time. Alla tours handled all of it. Overall - fantastic day.
