FLL - POM Hotel recommendation

Well the FLL area is about a 40+ minute drive from downtown Miami, so that is a BIG area to cover.

Lots of hotels in every price range in the 17th Street/downtown area of Fort Lauderdale; we like the Embassy Suites. Check http://www.sunny.org for FLL area tourist and lodging info.

In downtown Miami the most often suggested hotels include the Doubletree, Marriott, Hyatt, Hampton Inn Mary Brickell, Intercontinental & Holiday Inn.

You've ignored Miami Beach (FUN!) Hollywood, and many other areas in your list -- where do you fly in, what time of day, what dates (prices vary widely based upon the tourist season) and what is your budget?

I fly in at 1pm the day before to FLL and cruise from POM. I would like to stay at a place either near the FLL airport or in Miami. I'm not looking to spend over $150 a night. I will be there on May 17th.

Thanks!

Prices should be down by then - in general comparable hotels are cheaper in the FLL area than in Miami. With low demand I would use your favorite travel web site to search for prices of hotels in the downtown/17th street area of Fort Lauderdale, and maybe do some homework on www.betterbidding.com if you want to try Priceline or Hotwire. Again, you should use the www.sunny.org web site to famiiarize yourself with the area and things you can do the day you arrive -- the water taxi is a fun way to get around and see some of the city. ;)

Shared shuttles from the FLL area to POM are widely available for about $15 per person each way. Populare providers include SAS (www.ridesas.com), QLS (quality limo service), Go Airport Shuttle, and others. Most will provide you with a list of FLL area hotels they will pick-up and drop off at.
