RobinKS Posted April 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2014 We are going on a cruisetour in Alaska this July. I read somewhere that if you are doing the land portion of your cruisetour first, that you can leave your "large" luggage to RCCL to transport to the ship so that you only need to take a carry-on with you for the land tour. Can anyone confirm if this is true? There will be 5 in our group, 2 of which are disabled and 1 is a child. Our travel would certainly be easier if we don't have to drag all that extra baggage around with us. Thanks!
summersigh Posted April 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2014 I don't know about Royal ... we did Alaska with HAL ... but most things are similar. They moved all our luggage from hotel to hotel for the entire land tour. We were told what time to set it outside the room door and it appeared in the next room ... like magic :):)

In actuality, all your luggage stays with you through the land portion but you can designate however many pieces you want to just stay on the bus until you reach the ship. Whether you do this or not, you don't need to worry about dragging luggage. The cruise tour folks take care of moving luggage to the bus at each stop and also take care of getting luggage from the bus to your room. All you need to do is have your luggage ready for pickup each morning. Basically, once you get to your first room, you won't have to drag luggage again until your cruise is over. They even handle getting the luggage from the bus to your ship stateroom.
woehwdy Posted April 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Yes that is true, the luggage that you are not using for the land portion still goes with you but in a separate area, so if you need something the porters will have access. So you can take what you need to your hotel room.
