jmf123 Posted April 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic! Friends of ours got married during their Serenade of the Seas cruise on St. Thomas (Magen's Bay beach). They booked through RCI's Royal Romance and everything went perfect. woodswoman Posted April 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2014 I was married on the Grandeur in October 1997. I'm sure things are much different now. Would do it the exact same way again! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
mailmama Posted April 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2014 Our son got married on the Freedom last Dec. Her family and ours went along and we all had a fantastic time. They did their wedding through Royal Romance and everything was stress free. They got to choose the place to have the ceremony and a wonderful justice of the peace (lady) performed the service. She spoke to the couple for about 15 minutes before and got a sense of who they were. The ceremony then had a very personal feel to it. We couldn't have been happier and the couple too about the way it all worked out. The photographer then took them all over the ship for photos. Because the wedding was done before most people boarded, it was empty and they had some fantastic pictures. He actually spent about an hour and half for the shoot. The couple did their own thing over the week and the rest of us had our vacation too.
ChipLondon Posted April 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) We got married on The Navigator 8 years ago this week, fab experience, but things are done differently these days. Be sure you know what you want and ensure that it will be provided. In those days we had a priest come on from the Island of Jamaica, nowadays the ships have there own people that do the services on board. To me it seems more like a local town hall service and not so special, although some Captains are now authorised to conduct services. Of course non of this is an issue if you want a destination wedding in a port of call. I will give you 2 valuable tips 1. DO YOUR HOMEWORK 2. CHECK YOUR HOMEWORK Luckily the Wedding Dept in HO is headed up by a very capable manager, and she will ensure your day is special. Then live happliy ever after :D ( Has anyone had their wedding on board one of the Royal ships? Edited April 16, 2014 by ChipLondon
