scuddles Posted April 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2014 I am planning on giving my daughter a cruise for her grad gift next year. She knows that she is getting one but I figure the surprise could be that we work in two. This kid loves to cruise and she just found out that she is a "9 day" away from her "gold" status. We can cruise from April 1st to the 12th of 2015 but I have never been to any of the east coast ports so I am not sure how easy it would be to plan a B2B. Is it realistic to drive to another port or is that too much trouble? I was thinking a 3 and 6 day, or maybe two 5 days? We have traveled the Mexican Coast but never been to the Bahamas or other areas of the Caribbean. Any advice?
MissKIA Posted April 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2014 There are many ships that sail through Miami, so that would be your best bet. Fort Lauderdale is only a short drive away, but only the Freedom sails from there so that doesn't give you many options. Orlando is quite a bit farther, but there are 3 ships that sail there (I believe). If you want to do two different ships, Miami would definitely be the one to look at. mferris77 Posted April 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Yes I'd say any of the 3 ports on the east coast of FL (well, there's 4, but let's not count Jacksonville!). Until recently, Port Canaveral only did East and West itineraries - it now offers Southern routes as well. Miami will probably have more variety of Southern since it's a little closer. The same could be said for the port in San Juan, Puerto Rico as well.
marshhawk Posted April 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Actually, I love the Fascination out of Jacksonville, and if you love pristine beaches, you cant do better than Half Moon Cay and Little Stirrup Cay, so you could do a back to back, one to HMC and one to LSC, but both have a day in Nassau. Some people hate Nassau, I love it, for the excursions! Granted you wont have to pay for any excursions if you love beach at the other two stops, but suggest Balloral or Blue Lagoon. I have not seen Blue Lagoon as a Carnival excursion in a while though.
