debee1015 Posted April 20, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted April 20, 2014 The Taxi drop off point. We paid $10 and they gave us a ticket for the return trip at this time as well. My Aztec Statue Boyfriend Daquiri in a Coconut Mosaic Tile art in the Port Lucayan shops. This was Good Friday so quite a few of the shops were closed. I heard some other people on the bus say the Grand Lucayan casino wasn't serving alcohol until 6 PM due to the holiday. We made our way across the street to the Grand Lucayan. We walked up to the Security hut and asked about the Day Passes, the lady explained all the amenities we got with the day pass (FREE WI-FI). We payed our $15 and made our way past the pools (yes we had free run of them as well)

debee1015 Posted April 20, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted April 20, 2014 The Grand Lucayan had a really nice beach (brrr the water was cold though, I like my oceans Over 80, which is why I hated going to the Shore as a kid in New Jersey) and the pools were really nice. There were plenty of chairs, although I don't feel they had enough restrooms, or at least changing rooms. So if you're in Freeport and want a nice day at the beach. The Grand Lucayan is super nice. The drinks are not too bad most were about $7 (Credit Cards only). At the swim up bar we waited, finally I got out of the pool and went to the front of Rum Runners to order 2 Our Lucayan Delights (Coconut Rum, Nassau Royal , Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice) and Wanda's favorite B-52's. The bartender took his time and made them so perfectly, each layer was crystal clear I thanked him PROFUSELY for taking the time to make them (you have to slowly pour each liquor into the glass) and told him he would hear a scream in about 2 minutes when got back to the bar in to pool. His face just lit up and he told me he was going to take them himself. Wanda saw him come out and was like "THOSE ARE MINE!! I KNOW THOSE ARE MINE!!" We didn't order any food, we figured we'd go back to hit up the lido deck. Which is what we did.

debee1015 Posted April 21, 2014 Author #32 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Time for fun with store mannequins: Wanda is impressed I do my best Miley Cyrus impersonation Pool Rules: You shouldn't use the pool if you consume alcohol, but there's a swim up bar in the pool? I am confused. As we arrive back at the Sunshine there is a nice shaded seating area just before you get on board: Touchups?

I know alot of people don't like Freeport, but I actually think it's a nice stop. Nice Review. Can't wait to see the Sunshine in a few months. debee1015 Posted April 21, 2014 Author #43 Share Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) (The Youtube thing wouldn't work) I told Wanda how the Pilot steers the ship out of the harbor and then a smaller ship will come get him and he will leap from our ship to the smaller ship, and she didn't believe me. Can't wait to see the Sunshine in a few months. For a $25 excursion (including Taxi fare r/t) with beaches, loungers and nice pools I think Freeport is great. I wish the shops were better. I think if there was some investment in the area (like Nassau) it could be a destination.

debee1015 Posted April 21, 2014 Author #50 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Before dinner we heared down to the Duty Free shops some co-workers wanted Hennessy White. So we got down there and they only had 1 bottle on the shelf. So I asked the guy if there was any more and he said yeah, how many do you need? 5 You can buy 6 at a case price of $37 (and change) a bottle. Sold. So we bought 6 bottles of Hennessy White. Did I get any of them? No We headed back to the cabin to drop off our boxes and headed down to the mid-ship Sunrise dining room. OOPS! I forgot I cannot go down to the 3rd floor from the aft elevators, and I can't access the Sunrise dining room from the 4th floor aft elevators. We have to go up to the 5th deck walk to the mid ship elevators and then down to the 3rd deck. UGH I hated this. Finally we get to dinner and its elegant night and somehow in my new found organizational skills (ha!) I forget to pack dress pants (because I wasn't bringing a garment bag for 1 dress). So I wore jeans to dinner at elegant night. Now some people say, "You shouldn't have been allowed in the MDR..." Whatever, it was a TWO DAY CRUISE who has an elegant night on a 2 day cruise? I did have a nice top, so I was dressy from the mid section up. Dinner in the MDR A taste of Strawberry Jello with mint. No it's strawberry bisque Lobster and shrimp. two nights in a row Now if you look at the EXIF data I took that shot at 9:05 PM This shot was taken at 10:02 PM We waited almost an hour for them to bring the dessert menu back. Our servers disappeared! People from our table left because after 40 minutes our glasses of water weren't filled and they got tired of waiting. The dancing occurred before 9:30. This was probably my worst dining experience on a Carnival ship outside of Your Time Dining. Wanda still gave the Warm Chocolate Melting cake a big thumbs up: But look behind her almost all the tables are empty, that's because we were the last table to get served.
