so i am trying a five day out of ft lauderdale. what night is typically the formal night and how formal does everyone dress? on carnival its not very formal. does anyone know where i can see the menus? is the drink package worth it? any other tips would be appreciated!!!!

Formal night is usually the 2nd night. On a 5 night cruise in particular though, you will likely find that formal night is not very formal at all. You'll probably be able to count the number of tuxes on one hand. You'll see suits for sure, and jackets and ties, but you'll likely also see a LOT of people who aren't dressed much differently than a regular night.

As for the value of the drink package, it all depends on how much you typically drink while on a cruise. For some people it's a steal; for others, they would waste a lot of money if they bought it.
