SoPreppyPinky Posted July 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2005 We're flying down to Port Canaveral for tomorrow's Mariner sailing. I know the airline doesn't allow us to lock our luggage (SWA) but does the cruise ship allow us to before we check our bags at the port? I'd really feel better if I could lock it. DOes anyone know? crb04 Posted July 30, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2005 To the best of my knowledge (but have only been on one cruise, so not the voice of experience ;) ), the cruise line doesn't open your luggage. There were scanners for carry-ons at the port. I always use zip-ties to secure my luggage (with more packed inside for return trip) just because I don't like the idea of my belongings unlocked in the hallway for a few hours. A small pair of scissors in an outside pocket of a checked bag for opening them. Certainly not a fool-proof safety method, but it makes me feel better than just leaving them unlocked :)
johnql Posted July 30, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2005 I've gotten into the habit of using cable ties, for flights, cruises, whatever.
Cindy Posted July 30, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2005 I use the TSA approved locks, and I haven't had a problem flying or on a ship.
