Atlantis Excursions ...

 Share

Recommended Posts

OK so I just booked a cruise with a friend of my for late September (pray no storms) ... In Atlantis ... the excursions from the ship are wicked expensive! In looking at other sites, you can do the same Atlantis excursion for a lot less by buying the ticket at Atlantis. So my question is ... our ship gets to the Bahamas around noon ... In late September ... if we decide to not get off the ship until 2-3pm in the afternoon, will we still be able to do the 'Tour Atlantis' type excursion (where we basically do the aquarium, but not the beach or the water park)...

Feedback appreciated!

If you are not going to the aqua park you will be fine.

In my opinion NOT WORTH IT!! Depending on your ship there could be a limited amount of time you will be able to spend at Atlantis. We were on the Oasis and the ship docked at 8 AM and all aboard around 2 PM. I have been to Atlantis twice (the second time I was there with a group and got half off) and IMO it is one of the most over rated and expensive places to vacation. Yes, the grounds are really beautiful and the water park is fun, but the costs are way too much!!

If you are going on the Oasis, see my review below by clicking on the link

HAVE FUN ON YOUR CRUISE!!

We grabbed a cab and went to Atlantis on our own. We thought about doing the ship's excursion as DH wanted to see the DIG...what a let down! We went to Atlantis and bought the tickets on our own ($45.00 each) and went through the DIG on our own. We are glad we did this because the tours had too many people and you couldn't see or hear anything with such large groups.....been there, done that and won't be back. The small aquarium at our local pier is better than the DIG at the Atlantis.

Take a taxi and tour the hotel, shops and casino on your own...skip the DIG and spend the money more wisely than we did.

thanks for the feedback ... I agree, Bahamas don't hold a ton of allure (no pun intended) for me having been there multiple times. We dock at noon and are basically there the whole day ... this is a short 3-nighter cruise. If we decided to check out the sites, we likely will hang on the ship for a while and enjoy everyone else getting off which is why I asked the question. I don't expect it to be the Baltimore (or even Atlanta) aquarium...but it would be something not TOO expensive to do (buying the tix there and not on board the ship). :)

Thx all!!!

Contrary to some of the others we loved the dig. With only being in port a short time it is perfect. Don't try to do the waterpark unless you are there all day.

We have always bought our tickets direct and not through RCI. Take a cab instead of the water taxi as it is much quicker.

Thanks Ken.

Since we're there ALL day and have my time dining, I think we will hang out on the ship a bit and then head over about 2-2:30 or so...If there's tix direct from Atlantis, great ... if not, NBD, we will just walk around. :) Does anyone know if they have certain hours of operation? Like, does the aquarium type stuff close at 5 or 6p?

Thx again fellow cruisers!
