pullman beds on carnival?

we are going on the freedom in dec and wondered if anyone has used these pulldown beds? My daughter will be just turning 6. Is that safe? Is there anything to prevent them from rolling off? She's excited...I am nervous...lol..anyone have a photo or experience using them?

They are safe...there is a rail...just like in bunk beds! You could always take the mattress and put it on the floor!

Some ships have extra bed rails available. You have to ask your cabin steward as soon as you get on the ship. Our DD likes to roll around and she did fine. You can also ask the steward to put the mattress on the floor.

Our 6yo niece loves the pulldowns. She prefers sleeping up there and we've never had an issue. We didn't let her start sleeping up there until she was 4, but she's also very tall.

 

Here's a picture that parents of other children have posted to the internet (they came up in Google).

When I use the upper (I was 6 in the 60's) we hang a small pocket holder from the adjacent hook. I use the upper pockets as a nightstand.

our daughter turned 4 just before our cruise and she slept in it. She enjoyed it, but bar was so small and probably wouldn't have stopped her from rolling off.

My 6 and 3 year old argued over who was going to be on top and we eentually decided they would take turns. My 3 year old was fine up there (with the rail.) I wouldn't have allowed him up there if we didn't have it as he has been known to fall out of a bed or 4.

 

I imagine we'll have the same scenario this fall on Sunshine.
