Cool--I never knew there was a difference. So an upgrade wouldn't cost additional money I guess.

 

We got the last balcony in our category but it is a handicapped cabin (which we don't need). They said we would be upgraded free of charge if anyone needs our cabin.

We are on the same cruise. They called us, but DH had already paid for a suite.

That's actually an upsell rather than an upgrade. Grand Suites are nice. We stayed in one with an extended balcony on a cruise a few years ago.

Why do you people feel this need to try to correct the poster? They were just letting us all know they received an offer from Carnival, not asking for a vocabulary lesson. And besides, who says upgrades are free? When you upgrade your computer, is it free?

Just pointing it out, that's how folks learn :rolleyes:. In cruise lingo an upgrade is free and an upsell cost money.
