Do cabins open up after final payment?

I was hoping to snag an aft balcony, but there are none left on my Aug. cruise. Once final payment happens, and people can no longer cancel without penalty, do some cabins then become available? Thanks for any thoughts.

Keep checking I have switched cabins after final payment. Also, I don't know if Carnival has a "wait" list for cabins (Royal & Celebrity do) you might want to call and find out. It's also a great time to look for price drops.

Thank you, Barb. I will keep checking, and also call Carnival to see if they have a "wait list" like some of the other lines.
