Is it true that if you have booked directly with Carnival you will get OBC's for price drops up to 3 days prior to sailing?

Only if you've booked under the Early Saver booking code. Otherwise, you don't get anything if the price drops. You may be able to upgrade but that's it.

Thank you for the info. How would I know if I booked under early saver? I booked online with a discount for my VIFP number.

ES has non-refundable deposit. That's one of the easiest ways to tell how you booked. With Early Saver you also get to choose your cabin. ES is available up to about 5 mo. before 6+ day cruises and 3 mo. for cruises 5 days or less.
