Help with onboard credit

I just saw a price drop on my cabin. I called Carnival and the lady verified that there was a price drop. it was an $80.00 difference. but she said I only get 64.00 because my taxes went up? I looked at my original invoice and my taxes were $159.62 and on the new invoice my taxes are 175.62. I did not change cabins. I am booked under Early saver and my cruise is paid in full.

What am I missing?

The taxes/port charges seem to fluctuate all the time, and for no particular reason. I wouldn't worry too much about it, and would bet that when you get aboard, you'll find a credit on your OBC for a few dollars. Not a big deal.

You aren't missing anything. Port taxes can change from booking to sailing which are out of the control of Carnival. However, if there are no changes to your booking (ie price drops etc), your taxes will not change. IF you make a claim under ES for a price drop, then the new tax rate will be in effect.

We recently received a price drop of $100. Only received $75.66 drop because the taxes had also gone up.

Doing a mock booking to check if a better cabin is available I see that the taxes on our cruise have gone up by about $10 per person.
