Dizzneefan Posted May 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2014 We are planning our first Alaskan cruise for next summer. Are the view's on the Miracle obstructed in the mid ship area? I would prefer an aft but they may not be available
HawkIVette Posted May 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Can't remember any ship that has balcony obstructed view midship unless you are down low to the water and blocked by a lifeboat. Are you thinking obstructed oceanview (window)? As long as you are on 6th deck or above, shouldn't be a problem. I will let you know in 17 days, though. HawkIVette Posted May 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) I will, But get an aft balcony if you can. They sound like they are the best for Alaska. We wanted one, but none where left when we booked, just 2 months ago. This is a free cruise, courtesy of the Breeze Casino. Had to pay upgrade for the 7th deck balcony, but will be worth it. PixieDust54 Posted May 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2014 We just returned from Alaska on Tuesday. We stayed mid ship; 6th level. Balcony room 6200. No obstructed views and about 3 doors away from the mid ship elevator. It was a perfect room.
buddylover Posted May 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Deck 6 and above are not obstructed by a lifeboat....however, look at the layout of the Miracle, the ship has 2 sections of balconies that stick out further and then there are more inset balconies. We have always been on the section that juts out....if you are in the inset section the other balconies that stick out block your view the length of the ship. Look at the deck plans and pick a cabin in the section that sticks out the furthest for optimal views....especially for Alaska where you will want to look forward and aft and be able to see beyond the ship itself. lollylew Posted May 24, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) If I'm not mistaken, it will be the Legend that does the Alaska itineraries for 2015. Same class as the Miracle though. Looking to book a balcony for the Mexican Riveria and it seems the higher you go and further back on the ship, the less chance you have of your sightlines being blocked by life boats. riffatsea Posted May 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 24, 2014 We have done several cruises on the Miracle and its sister ships with the same layout. We are always midship(near the 2 sets of elevators) on the 6th or 7th deck. The view is just perfect from there. NO obstructions at all!
LreedCA Posted May 24, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Just returned from Alaska on the Miracle in room 8153 (extended balcony). No obstruction, but some noise from the chairs being dragged around above on deck 9. The bit of extra balcony space was nice.
