cruiseorbust Posted August 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2005 We are hoping to go to Alaska this next summer and are trying to decide between the Radiance or the Serenade. The Radiance leaves from Vancouver to Seward and was built in 2001, the Serenade does round trip Vancouver and built in 2003. Anybody like one ship over the other? We have been to Alaska before with Celebrity and have been Seward to Vancouver. This time we wanted to try RCCL to Alaska (more activities). Which one would you pick? Thanks in advance
jamandamn14 Posted August 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2005 personally i would go for the serenade as it is the newer of the 2 ships. Although from what Ive been told when it comes to alaska the itinary and the size of the ship matter as to how close you will get to hubbard glacier for example
caviargal Posted August 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2005 Serenade is gorgeous but I would not make the decision based on "new". Really, Radiance is barely broken in! And the ships are twins. I like the one way itinerary better personally, it was my favorite of 4 Alaska cruises.
sailor moon Posted August 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2005 We did the Vancouver round trip on the Radiance this past June and fell in love with this class of ship. I would go for which route you want, not which ship as they are the same class.
Mildred Posted August 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2005 Our family did the round trip out of Vancouver on the Serenade this summer and loved it so much we are going back to Alaska next summer. We live in Phoenix and love the cooler weather vacation. For next year we are sailing North Bound on the Radiance which will stop at a few different ports: Sitka, Icy Point Strait, and Seward. There was a show one night this past week on the Radiance on the Travel Channel and she looked wonderful!!
Onessa Posted August 3, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2005 I prefer the Northbound, one-way trip. That being said, if one itinerary includes Sitka and the other does not - choose to go to Sitka!
