P Deck on Ventura

Hi, looking at booking the 7 day Iberian trip next October on Ventura and considering the cheapest cabin option available, so looking at P deck, probably cabins P244 and P240. We've never had a cabin this low down in the ship before, any positives or negatives about this deck/cabin choice please?

We were in P323 on Ventura's sister ship, Azura, last year. We'd been upgraded from an inside on Riviera deck to this cabin, which was an outside. Whilst we were delighted with the upgrade, I did have some reservations about being so low down in the ship, but it wasn't a problem. Pros: we generally thought the cabin was very well positioned for getting to most parts of the ship (bars, lounges, MDR, shops) and particularly good for lifts to Lido deck, because being low down you get the lift on the start of its journey and don't have to wait while it stops at various decks. Also very convenient for disembarking in ports because the gangway is usually on deck 4 or 5.

Cons: a little noise up to 11/midnight from music in the Atrium, but we happened to be at that end of the corridor and it wasn't too obtrusive; noise of waves on side of ship (we had winds of up to force 6 and the slap of the waves was sometimes quite loud, but obviously this only affected us because we had an outside cabin); sundry clanks and bangs from the "business" part of the ship below us - occasional but sometimes quite loud. The worst was on docking at Southampton, because from about 4 a.m. we had the noise of luggage being moved around ready for offloading, then this actual process, gangways being run out, port workers moving around on loading machines etc on dockside. I know we had to be up early to disembark, but after 4 a.m. it was impossible to sleep. However, again this might have been due to us having an outside cabin.

Overall we thought it was a good cabin and in fact were considering booking the same cabin again on another cruise on Ventura, so it didn't spoil our enjoyment of the holiday one bit.

Other passengers have cabins on upper decks and complain about noise from bars, the pool deck, etc., so I venture to say that there is probably a down side to every cabin. Just depends how much people take these things to heart.
