Rum Point and Cayman Brewing co.

We are interested in going to both of these. What's the best way to get there? Distance between the two and is it posible to get good quality time at both places or is the time restraints a problem....(I always worry about missing the ship);)

Ok so, after further research it appears that Rum point is waaaaay too far to go, so maybe Royal Palms? Wondering if that is closer to the brewery and might work better timewise :confused:

It is certainly doable depending on what time you dock. We got there early and left right away. We walked to the left of the dock and went to Cayman Rentals and got a car for the day for $63 and some change. Had a great day exploring and drove to Rum Point. It's very pretty there, nice beach, places to eat, shop, etc. Also some beautiful homes in the area we enjoyed seeing. We had already done the 7 mile beach on another trip and wanted something different. Being the 'explorers' we are, we enjoy taking off on our own. It was great. We got the car back, got back to the ship before 3:00, had something to eat and I think we left port around 4:00. We had a wonderful time. But, whatever you do .... enjoy!

Rum Point is doable and worth it!! Yes, it is a trek, but I am happy I convinced the non-adventurers in my family to try this. It is one for the bucket list I think!

rum Point is lovely, there used to be a ferry but alas no more

It takes about 45 minutes by car, I think a taxi costs about $40

each way.

A few years ago we enjoyed a tour with Cayman safari. At the time the trip should have included Rum Point along with a tour round the east end. Due to time constraints we had to miss Rum Point but did go to Cayman Brewery. I see they are now offering a new tour to Rum Point and perhaps they could include the brewery since it is on that side of town.

The brewery is on the way to Rum Point at least. Royal Palms is not, however it is probably closer to the brewery.

 

Taxis from town to Rum Point are more like US$80 each way and taxis are not waiting there for the return trip unless you pre-arrange that. Much cheaper to rent a car.

We rented a car and spent a great day at Rum Point! There was lots of shade, plenty of chairs, it was quiet, and there was a restaurant there (although fairly expensive) for sandwiches and drinks. There were also jetskis for rental.
