chaswill Posted June 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2014 We recently did a short four day Princess cruise from San Francisco to Vancouver BC and took Amtrak back to Sacramento, CA. It was a short ten minute ride from the cruise terminal to the train station and since we would be spending almost four hours on an Amtrak bus to Seattle, we needed to find a place to get some food. FYI, McDonalds is no longer in the station and it's replacement, Taco Bell, has not opened yet, but we found a McDonalds and a Tim Hortons (local Vancouver fast food) a half block south of the train station. You can practically see both from the station parking lot. It is only fast food, but we didn't see anything else close enough to walk to with the little time we had before the bus left. BCHappyGal Posted June 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2014 You are right there are basically only fast food chains close to the Station - it is not in the best area of the city... There is also a Subway on Main Street
Rare martincath Posted June 2, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) Unfortunately the good restaurants on Main Street near the train station don't open until 5pm, which makes them utterly useless for folks wanting a bite before getting on the morning or evening trains. In case you come back, walk straight along Terminal across Main to Science World and follow the seawall around to the left into the Olympic Village. A couple of hundred yards further than the McDs on Main at most. You'll find two pubs with a wide variety of food & beers, a very nice Terra Breads cafe, another Subway, and the Urban Fare supermarket which has a more-than-passable cafe inside for sit-down food as well as plenty of packaged picnic type grub if you want to dine al fresco in the square. trinaM Posted June 2, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Thanks for the updated information. It is an interesting question, where to get food at certain times around the station. Langley Cruisers Posted June 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Boy, that train station needs an update! The restrooms were appalling. Oh well. The only good thing is that (coming North from the US) the Customs and Immigration set up is right there in the station; they allow one train car at a time to disembark and you walk right up to a CBP agent. It's awesome. :)
