DonnaK Posted June 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2014 Embassy Suites is our go-to hotel in FLL. We like the large rooms because we travel with our two young adult children, and there is plenty of space for all 4 of us in one room. We also like the full breakfast and the happy hour, and we like that there is a shopping plaza behind the hotel and lots of restaurants in walking distance. Embassy Suites does not have a vacancy on the night before the cruise I am considering. Is there another decent suite-style hotel in a safe location that has a shopping area/restaurants nearby? Breakfast included would be nice, too, or at least a nice breakfast place in very easy walking distance. Hotel shuttles to/from the airport and port isn't as important because taxi fees are very reasonable.
eandj Posted June 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Look at Gallery One (doubletree). Not sure if your date is avail but you can often get this one on Lastminutetravel.com for a good rate. This one is suite based, no freebies, but in walking distance of all kinds of shopping and restaurants, as well as RIGHT ON the intracoastal for the water taxi stop. About $20 cab ride to port in the morning. SUV's for your four are available for the same rate. Hyatt Place - Convention Center would be another good option. It's right behind the ES off 17th St. Sleeper sofas in the rooms and free breakfast. Valuetrips.com always has the best rates for this one. BlueHerons Posted June 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2014 I think you'll like the location of the Doubletree Gallery One much better than the Embassy. It is more of a resort, it is nicer, on the water taxi route, and closer to much better shopping and really good dining. Plus, even though they have a man made beach, you can walk to the ocean. ducklite Posted June 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2014 Why not just get connecting rooms at another hotel that also offers breakfast?
