How to book an excursion

Hi All,

I already posted this on the Theme Cruise forum but it doesn't seem to be well-read so thought I'd post my question here too:

I'll be on the Celtic Thunder theme cruise Nov.8/14. The Celtic Thunder booking team advised I can book my excursion in Nassau direct through the MSC cruise line. So I went to their website and put in my booking number and it tells me that I have booked through a travel agent and to contact them. Any one else going on this cruise had any success with booking an excursion and, if so, how did you do it?

Thanks!

One of the many drawbacks of turning your vacation over to a travel agent.

It's true. Once you've booked MSC won't even talk to you as it relates to the mechanics of your cruise and its various accoutrements.

Better hope something doesn't go wrong on a Sunday while you're out to sea and your travel agent back home is out playing golf and forgot to bring her phone with her. Because you'll be S.O.L. until she returns your call. And even then, the bigger the problem, the more of her time she'll have to invest.

If you're booking an excursion, you could be standing right at the tours desk. And they still can't help you.

Hi puzzums,

You should be able to book your excursion via our website. Could you please send an email with your booking number to ta.feedback@msccruisesusa.com so we could look into this?

Best,

I have booked most of our cruise's thru TAs and though we rarely do any sort of ship's excursions, when we do, we go right to the cruise lines web site and book it right there. I do not understand why you need a TA to book an excursion on a ship or cruise you are already booked on? I have never heard something like this.

is this for MSC cruises only?

Cheers

Forget about book through the cruise's excursion dept. They are always more expensive for the same or better deals offered at the dock. I just read that many of the cruise ship companies use the same tour operator that you can book at the dock for $15 -$40 less.

I've always booked my own tours directly on cruises I'd been on. Less expensive and more personalized.

Google under "Nassau shore excursions" and you will find lots of info.
