The Haven Review - NCL Getaway - Feb 22 - Mar 1 2014

I want to get two for us to wear, would you suggest that the lanyard have a cover to put your card in, or just a regular lanyard. I guess its more of if the card doesn't have anything to protect it, will it get messed up?

You do not need a cover, in fact you will mess up your card if you keep pulling it it in and out. My daughter and I always have several fancy lanyards to match our moods- blinded out or plain. Last summer the boys had Harry Potter ones .

You can find tons on eBay.

Loving your review & the pics are AMAZING!! We have also cruised Carnival & RCI. I just booked the Getaway for Oct 2015 (sooo far away!) as a 40th birthday gift for my husband. It will be our first with NCL. I went back & forth for weeks: Haven or Regular balcony. Ultimately decided you only turn 40 once, so Haven aft facing penthouse it is!! I have no idea how I will keep this secret for 15 months, lol! Your review has made me feel even better about my decision!! Can't wait to read more. Cheers!

I have to correct my self, future Mrs- I was just packing for a different trip and found my lanyard stash- We have the kind with covers/ pockets- I would tuck the room key, a few bills inside and casino card( not needed on NCL now, I hear) 2 years ago on Freedom I had a really tight, plastic sleeve and kept wearing the magnetic part off. But my kids reminded me that that was an anomoly.

 

5 weeks to go!!!

Another question for you too.... I am 19 also and I will be traveling with my father so I will be getting the alcohol form..... You said the girl you traveled with is your friend? Did they not have a problem with you singing off on it even though you were not related to her??

Could you tell me what people were wearing at breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Haven restaurant? I like freestyle for a reason but I also don't want to be too out of place.

 

Would you say the dress in general was the same as the rest of the ship?

 

(and BTW I would gladly be your Charleston SC momma-I'd be more than happy on the chair bed!!)

 

Sorry for the delay as I've been on the road all week. For Breakfast and Lunch I didn't find anyone too, too dressed up. Dinner was a little more formal; however, for myself I never once got that dressed up. For Breakfast and Lunch I only wore shorts with a golf shirt or button up. For dinner I often wore dress shorts or Khakis with a golf or button up shirt. LOL on the SC momma! :D

Great review i really appreciate it! I have a question for you.... Can you describe how the night life was because i have heard many people say bliss is dead and I was wondering how the night life on the ship is. Because like you I have sailed on Oasis and nightly the club on there was the place to go

 

I pretty much found the night life in the clubs below to be dead. All of the big parties happened at H20 outside. I really thought NCL knew how to have fun and party.

I am so pumped about your review! My fiancé and I are going on the Getaway in September for our Honeymoon, and he surprised me a few weeks ago with the upgraded Haven Penthouse! He figures, its our honeymoon and we should go big or stay home...and he likes to spoil me :) (Lucky me). I am happy to see this review from your perspective as a Haven guest, and being new to NCL. I have never cruised before, so I like to see the ship from someone's opinion that has never cruised before, or is new to NCL. I am at the part where you talk about the lanyard (I know all the fantastic stuff you have posted and I am interested in the lanyard!). Thanks for your comments :) Yea - for NCL I would prefer one that is not in a cover. Their keys are not RFID and you have to use the magnetic strip. It's annoying to take it in and out of the holder.
