Best way to get to Galveston?

We are cruising on the Magic in oct. and was wondering what the best way to Galveston is from the Houston airport? I know carnival has a shuttle service, but I was wonder if anyone has rented a car or had any other suggestions. Thanks in advance?

I am sure that others here have better info, but there are very limited car rental's on the island (and not open on Sunday) for that as an option. Bush is a longer ride than Hobby. For Bush figure at least a 70 minute commute.

Unfortunately there is no easy cheap way to Galveston... We've used a taxi and a limo service. The shuttle service is actually more expensive the larger the group.

I think he's asking which airport you're flying into. Houston has 2.
