anniversay/grad trip Posted June 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2014 For anyone who has done this....without buses. What is the easiest way to get to the hydrofoil to get to the Isle of Capri? Cost? Does anyone know of any transfer companies or is it an easy cab ride? We'd rather not wait around for buses. What is the cost of the Hydrofoil? and I think I read somewhere that there is a cable car involved once off the ferry? We are in port for a full day and just want to go to The main town. Any info would be appreciated.
euro cruiser Posted June 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2014 Unless you have a very late departure from Salerno, it's nearly impossible to make a day trip from there to Capri. There is only one high speed boat back from Capri at the end of the day, departing Capri at 5:15 PM and arriving to Salerno at 6:50 PM. If your ship departs at 8 PM you can accomplish this but if you leave at 7 you're out of luck. You could cut your time on Capri short and take an earlier boat back to Amalfi, then take a cab or bus from there, but it's hardly worth it. The only high speed boat to Capri from Salerno in the morning departs at 8:20 AM and arrives at 9:45 AM (after stopping at Amalfi and Positano). You'd need to leave Capri at 3:30 PM on a boat arriving to Amalfi at 4:30 PM and find your way from there to Salerno. You can see the full schedule of crossings here: http://www.capritourism.com/imgg/download/collegamenti_marittimi_capri_orario.pdf The applicable crossings are at the bottom of the page under the green banner. The cost is Euro 21,80 each way.
Rare Hlitner Posted June 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2014 We will echo everything said by Euro Cruiser and simply add that we do not recommend going to Capri from Salerno on a normal port day. The distance is just too far, and connections too infrequent, to justify the trip. Capri is best done from Sorrento and Naples (and also possible from Positano). One needs to consider that if the sea conditions (or weather) becomes less then ideal, the jetboats/hydrofoils can be delayed. Hank
