Getaway Casino Very Specific Room Card Question

Hello:

This is a question for ( perhaps Harriet?) those having cruised on GA/BA.

Can you , after speaking to the casino desk and receiving a PIN, use your room key card in the slot machines WITHOUT incurring the 3% fee usually charged when taking cash from your onboard account?

There have been several threads about casinos and this has come up, but then people who have experience on other ships join in , which is fine, but not when i need to know just for this particular ship.

Can i use my card, after the proper authorization, in the machine with out a surcharge, on Getaway?? Thanks

You can use the card - you will still incur the 3% charge. Why did you think you wouldn't?

I wanted to clarify simply because of the way it was stated in previous posts.

I had read everything from '"you just stick your card in the machine now, just like on Carnival"...whatever that means,

To what Harriet had written last week, with a comment added by GaryCarla about the 3%.

I thought that perhaps they were looking at" WOW! we can totally make a killing here by letting folks plop their keys in the machine and gamble away the college fund" and maybe were not going to collect their 3 dollars per hundred.

To me, it would be a wise business decision.

I needed to ask to find out how many crisp 100's I need to bring. I don't feel like adding my 3 dollars per hundred to NCL coffers and only because I am a biotch.

NEW QUESTION- out of curiosity- does the machine "remind" you that you are being charged a fee?

Thanks, sissasMomE!

Yeah, it does issue the reminder. I had used the slot play coupons, and when I ran out, I took a small (very small) amount just to finish up, and it makes you "confirm" the fee before you can proceed.

I would like to take a dollar out just to have the chance to approve the 3cent service fee.....

I had better watch it- we have a lot of OBC ..I can see me whipping thru that , nary a care about the 3% and then POOF! Next month's mortgage payment slides thru that machine....good thing we don't have the ubp!!

I shall avoid casino after mojito.

Yes, IF and only IF you have VIP status with CAS. If you DO have VIP status with CAS it will show up on your onboard account, however, the last day when you go to the Casino host at the appointed times they will remove all global cash fees. Convenience fees are waived for those who are Golden and VIP.

Here is a link that shows what each CAS status level provides.

Hope this helps!

Even if you have an OBC and go to desk to take cash out, they will charge you the 3%.

Did find on last cruise that CAS credited us all the fees for getting cash... guess they realized they got alot more than 3% from us
