ImaginationCruiseBride Posted June 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2014 How about a "fun" thread....our song choices so far: Processional: Compass by Lady A Bridal Entrance: Thousand Years by Christina Perri Recessional: You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall and Oats First Dance: Love Song by Adele Father/Daughter Dance: I Loved Her First by Heartland We are only doing the 1 hour reception so this is probably enough. We haven't decided about a song for cake cutting, and our joke is we will have Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band as the last song (probably only older readers will get this) As you can probably gather our taste in music is all over the place. Bo59rt Posted June 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2014 well my wedding is already over, but I can list what I had... Processional, Bridal Entrance, Recessional: All steel drum music, Traditional wedding march (wedding was on beach so this fit really well, and I cant even remember the music playing I was so nervous :p) First Dance: She's My kind of Crazy by Brantley Gilbert Father/Daughter Dance: Just Fishin' by Trace Adkins Mother/Son dance: That's what mommas do (by I have no idea MIL's choice) Cake Cutting: was supposed to be Pretty Girl by Kip Moore (but we had a cake fiasco, the cake was destroyed in transit to the wedding so we had to rearrange things) Last song: Friend's In Low Places by Garth brooks IF you take anything from this post its to roll with the punches....and stop and enjoy it all so you can remember it :D

mrstriceasnice Posted June 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Our wedding will forgo the dancing as we have chosen the seated formal dinner and ceremony. I think I will simply go with the standard processional and recessional music. If I had my druthers I would walk down the aisle to All that I am by Rob Thomas or Dear Life by Anthony Hamilton. :) Although we are getting married in January and I recently found the song January Wedding by The Avett Brothers

Since I posted this we have had a few changes, first of all, due to a serious medical situation my parents aren't going to be able to make it to our wedding, so no Father/Daughter Dance and we have decided for our last dance to go with over the top corny and have the Love Boat Theme. My fiancé has a strange sense of humor! I almost forgot...our wedding party will enter the reception to Ever Ever After. LilBlackDress Posted July 21, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 21, 2014 We didn't have a "first dance" nor did we have a 'song' like some couples have... So along the 1200 mile drive to FL and my, now husbands, extensive CD collection, we spent the better part of the drive popping in and out CDs (playing each song between 15 to 30 seconds) before we found what we wanted for Processional, Bridal Entrance, Recessional.... Thank You for Loving me by Bon Jovi We have never been traditional.
NL2134 Posted July 21, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 21, 2014 We wanted to try and stay away from the "typical" songs for the ceremony, but also didn't want to go too crazy. So... Processional: A piano version of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica Only a couple people recognized the song and those that did thought it was awesome that I walked down the aisle to Metallica. Everyone else just thought it was a beautiful song. And looking back, I thought it was perfect. Even though we did the instrumental version, we loved the meaning in the lyrics to that song. Here's a youtube link to the version we used: Recessional: Beautiful Day by U2 First Dance: I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz This song actually goes along really well with our vows, which basically said we know that there will be hard times and we may not always be happy, but we promise to stick by each other do whatever it takes to make it work Father-Daughter Dance: I Loved Her First by Heartland Mother-Son Dance: What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong Last Song: Mine Would Be You by Blake Shelton We didn't even think about a cake cutting song, but I wish we had. The song that was playing didn't really fit at that time and was a bit odd.
palmtree99 Posted July 21, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 21, 2014 Our ceremony music will be steel drums, and our first dance will be "better together" by Jack Johnson. Jack Johnson's music is nice and island-y :) Sent from my iPhone using Forums
grooveynurse Posted October 19, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 19, 2014 I (think) we have finalized our music choices for the ceremony/reception. We both LOVE music so this was both fun and challenging! 1.) Bridal Party Entrance- Carl Goes Up (From the movie Up) 2.) Canon in D - London Symphony Orchestra (the song little girls dream of?) 3.) Recessional - Don't Stop Believin- Vitamin String Quartet 4.) First Dance - Waste - Phish 5.) Father/Daughter- Thank you for loving me- Bon Jovi (I was adopted so most of the words really fit our situation) Now if the finance will just select his Mother/Son song we will be done. I don't really care what music we have for cake cutting and we are not doing bouquet or garter toss. However do you brides have a song for the entrance into the reception? I just now thought of that :)
Creole Girl Posted October 25, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 25, 2014 As of now: Processional- Latest, Greatest Inspiration by Teddy Pendergrass. Bride- I Love Me Some Him - Toni Braxton Recessional- So Amazing - Luther Vandross 1st dance- That's the Way I Feel About You - Calvin Richardson. At first we got strange looks when I said we were using it, but after people read the lyrics and understood that our wedding party was our daughters and their husbands, it was the perfect choice! My DH and I both had songs that reminded us of each other, since our first dance was the only decision my husband felt strongly about we went with his song for me, so we used my song for him as our recessional, so it was PERFECT!
