catl331 Posted June 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) can anyone help with information on getting from train station in Venice to dock and where the Nieuw Amsteram will be docked on July 11, 2014?Cross the new "Constitution Bridge" on foot to Piazzale Roma, then take the People Mover (1.3 Euro pp) to the mid-point station, walk to ship! Porters can be hired at the train station if you have a lot of luggage, but I think they will only go as far as the People Mover. See map at http://www.italylogue.com/planning-a-trip/venice-cruise-terminal-where-it-is-how-to-get-there.html The green line going from P'le Roma to Tronchetto is the People Mover. The point where the line splits in two is where you get off. There will be HAL people directing you to the correct pier. Cheese2525 Posted June 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2014 can anyone help with information on getting from train station in Venice to dock and where the Nieuw Amsteram will be docked on July 11, 2014? Arriving at the main train station St. Lucia Railway station the terminals can be reached by: - Public water buses (vaporetti) to P.le Roma (1 stop) where you will find the terminal's bus shuttle or you can take a taxi cab or the new people mover. - Water taxi directly to the cruise terminal. From Mestre Railway station (10 km far away from Venice) the Port of Venice can be reached by: - Taxi cab (about a 20 minute ride) - Public bus arriving in Piazzale Roma, nearby the Port of Venice. MobyandDick Posted June 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2014 can anyone help with information on getting from train station in Venice to dock and where the Nieuw Amsteram will be docked on July 11, 2014? It is more effort to upload and unload via porters for one stop only. In case you are able to walk and roll your cases along, the walk to the people mover and the walk from the people mover to the ship is the easiest. Otherwise a taxi can bring you from the station to the port, the taxi rank is just outside the main building where NA is docked. When you use the people mover, you can pay cash (if you have euros) or pay by credit card with a chip. When we started our cruise we encountered US passengers and we paid their fares in coins as they only had a credit card without the chip. In return they promised us to sing a song in the Crow's Nest that night, which did not happen  :D :D

EuropeCruiser80 Posted June 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2014 IMPORTANT! For your way back to the trainstation after the cruise. The Peoplemover starts its operation at 8am. It is not 24h! Last year we took a train from the trainstation at 8:25am, and it was really tight! We will arrive at 8:25am on July, 11th. There is a luggage store facility at the trainstation. At what time can we expect a smooth embarkation? When allows HAL the passenger to board the ship?

When allows HAL the passenger to board the ship?Unless there is a problem debarking the previous passengers, boarding usually starts around 11:30 in all ports.
