Did We Get An Upgrade?

Just received our stateroom assignment for our upcoming cruise on the Eurodam for 12 day Baltic Adventure out of Copenhagen on July 7th.

We had a Cat VF Guarantee and now have confirmation of Cat VC #4179.

Is this an upgrade?

Sure, technically it is an upgrade since your guarantee was for Cat VF or higher...and VC is a higher category. Most of us hope for one of those rare upgrades where you book a guarantee and get upgraded to a large suite....but the reality is that most upgrades are within the same class...although we think an inside cabin guarantee will often get you some kind of outside cabin on a cruise that is not near full.

You in fact got a very nice upgrade. The VF had the potential of having a solid steel panel and a veranda of 4.5 feet deep. Your VC has a depth of 7.5 feet and a clear panel. You are also near the stern of the ship, one or two flights down to the MDR. Last advantage is lower in the ship, more stable. BTY this will be a VB under the new categories. You win!

You got a cabin for which HAL charges more money. However, you booked a verandah cabin and you received a verandah cabin. Your call as to if this is an "upgrade".

This will be our 7th cruise on HAL and we have never been disappointed when we book Guarantee, a suggestion from our TA Judy when we booked our second cruise.
