jazztrumpet2 Posted March 19, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 19, 2015 We plan to snorkel in Curacao. Nothing particular in Aruba. There's not much to do there really. Staying in town in St Martin. It's one of my favorite places in the Caribbean and I love the area around the port. No specific plans for St. Thomas. It's a good place to buy liquor as there is no duty and the prices have always been lower than anywhere else. Your plans?
KansasCityGuys Posted March 19, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted March 19, 2015 As of right now are plans are: Aruba - go to the beach somewhere - last time we were in Aruba, we went to the beach right behind the Amsterdam Manor, but they know longer have day passes for cruisers. St. Martin's - Currently thinking about going to the beach with the Maho beach. Last time we were in St. Martin's, we went to the beach in town within walking distance of port. It was a nice beach and is still a possibility. St. Thomas - We love Magens Bay and again are going there. Curacao - We are currently thinking about getting a day pass at the Santa Barbara Beach Resort. Scott
warrior69 Posted March 22, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Sounds like you guys know your way around. We've been to St. Thomas before (not much to do there IMHO) and St. Maarten (we, too enjoyed the port and had drinks/lunch at a hotel on the beach in town.) But this will be our 1st time in Aruba and Curacao. Rocky is now seriously physically handicapped, so I'm wondering what might be doable ashore for someone in a wheelchair. KansasCityGuys Posted March 22, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Mike, Sorry to hear about Rocky's medical conditions. Are you familiar with Special Needs at Sea? Your travel agent should be registered with them. You can rent Beach wheelchair which will even float in the water. Scott
warrior69 Posted March 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2015 Just reserved a wheelchair through SN@S. We used them for the Boston-Bermuda cruise last year & everything went very smoothly. The floating wheelchair sounds interesting, but I think Rocky will stick to the terra firma. Mike
KansasCityGuys Posted March 25, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted March 25, 2015 Mike, when are you and Rocky arriving in New Orleans? We are arriving a few days early. If you guys are coming in early and are wanting to get together somewhere for pre-cruise cocktails, let me know.
warrior69 Posted May 3, 2015 #15 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Hi guys: Glad to have met you both, but sorry we did not get to spend more time together. Let's keep in touch. Who knows, maybe our paths will cross on another cruise. Have a great summer. In the meantime, I'll be posting my "review" of the cruise on Critic soon. Take care and all the best.
