anyone know what happens if you hit the 1000/1500 point limit in the casino for the "drinks on us" card and you already have the cheers package purchased?.. ive heard they give you dinner at the steakhouse on some ships but what about a ship like the fantasy that doesnt have a steakhouse? i usually hit this mark on the 2nd or 3rd day and almost any time i drink im in the casino but my wife is a pool/spa type and she wants the cheers package which means it has to be purchased X 2... Just wondering if anyone has ran across this situation.. thanks

My husband and I purchased the Cheers program on a cruise last year. On the second day, I got the free drink card in the casino!?! I asked Guest Services about it, they said there's nothing they could do, just use the drink card around other parts of the ship. Which is what I did. But at the end of the cruise I had a credit on my account of $100 - which they didn't have to do and I thought was a great customer service effort!! We haven't done Cheers on 2 cruises since that one, I decided that between the casino and the liquor we purchase for our room, we don't buy enough other drinks to make it worthwhile. But that's just us!

Had that happen on a cruise too, I used the "drink card" in the casino & cheers outside of it. Not that I ever go anywhere near the 15 drink mark, but it was nice to know that worse case I could always go to the casino & get another cocktail.

Same for me. The "drinks on us" card in the casino isn't really worth much since you already have Cheers. Ditto for the free drink coupon you get in your cabin to use in the dining room.

I still think Cheers is worthwhile though. The idea that it makes my cruise all-inclusive is worth the price.

Can someone explain to me about the "drink card" in the casino? How does that all work thanks

Hi ctrg,

You enter your Sail & Sign card into a machine when you play. That is how you take your money out of the machine and can then play it on another machine. You earn points while you play, and when you reach a certain number of points, you are eligible for a "drinks on us" card which gets you free drinks only while you are playing in the casino. You can't get any drinks from it when the casino is closed.

So when you enter your Sail & Sign card in the machine, you can see how many points you have built up. The point level must be earned on each cruise and does not carry over to your next cruise. The number of points needed to earn the "drinks on us" card depends on the length of your cruise, ranging from 1000 to 1500 points.

You can ask any casino host onboard if you have questions. As this thread points out though, the "drinks on us" card isn't worth much if you have already purchased the Cheers drink package for your cruise.

Have a great cruise.

And from what I've read on here, it takes spending $2.50 to earn one point. That includes the cash you put in and the cash that you may win and put back in. Technically if you were really, really, really, really lucky, you could put in a dollar, win $3750 and then lose it all, you could get the drinks on us card for a dollar. Don't expect it to happen though.

I know I got it on the seventh night of our last eight night cruise. I didn't spend anywhere near $3750 so I don't know where the people on here are coming up with the $2.50 per point.

I always purchase the Cheers program and usually get the On Us card at the beginning of my cruise.

You can only use the On Us card when playing in the casino and it's rung up under Players Club Comp. Be sure if you have both that the bar waiter knows to NOT ring it up under Cheers comp, that selection comes up first on the register and it's easily done incorrectly.

You cannot go to the Casino bar and order your own drink using the On Us card. Lately it's been taking 30+ minutes to place your On Us drink order and get served......especially during the dinner hours when most of the bar waiters are working in the dining rooms.

I have also noticed on past cruises that comp'd drinks ("On us" card) take a LOT longer to be delivered than drinks purchased with cheers.

Furthermore, drinks purchased with cheers generally take longer to show up than just a straight up purchase as well, at least in my experience.

We usually get the "On us" card the last day or so, don't do cheers anymore due to slow service and us not drinking enough to make it worth the while.

It is not calculated on what you spend, but what you play/wager. It takes $2.50 "coin-in" to earn one point on slot machines (and I believe $5.00 coin-in to earn one point on video poker).

Coin-in is defined as how much you wager. For example, let's say you play a quarter slot machine with a 3-coin maximum, so every time you spin at maximum bet, you have $0.75 coin-in, and every 3.34 spins, you will earn 1 point.
