STCKcruises Posted July 23, 2014 #51 Share Posted July 23, 2014 Do you also drink the bottled wine? Or do order a bottle with the discount for her consumption only? I will let you know in a couple of days when I'm on Regal P! I expect at dinner no (I will order by the glass for myself) but if buying a bottle for the cabin then yes. My wife drinks her forty percent off bottle and I order my own by the glass. You can get bottles throughout the ship but best choice in MDR and lower deck smarter bars. 🍷🍷🍷 Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Little Annie Posted August 3, 2014 #53 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Sorry I'm butting in a bit with some questions. We're on Emerald soon and thinking about the package. However someone on this thread mentioned an Elite Lounge. We're Elite for the first time on this cruise so wondered what this is. Also are speciality coffees, eg capuccino, latte available at any bar or only in specific locations and can you order fresh O J any time including at breakfast? There's probably other things I'll think of but any guidance is much appreciated. Ann Sent from my GT-S7580 using Forums mobile app
gacruisergal Posted August 3, 2014 #54 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Little Annie, there is an Elite Cocktail party most every evenings and they serve snacks and there is a drink of the day for $5.00. With the drink package we were able to get anything we wanted within the $10 price range at the party and anywhere else on the ship. Specialty coffees at the IC and with dinner, water bottles to take to the room, off ship, and with dinner instead of the ship water which makes my ankles swell. Fresh squeezed orange juice, all soft drinks and regular beers plus wine by the glass up to $10 in all bars, dining rooms, vines, casino, etc. We had package on the Ruby and made even but it was nice not to have to worry about a drink of any type. Should be even better on our Royal in October from NYC to FLL with so many sea days........

Thanks for the information gacruisergal. it's good to know what's available where and that hubby can have a cappuccino after dinner if he wants. We are thinking the package will probably make sense for us as we have 9 sea days out of 17. I think we'll look in on an Elite party now and again, but probably not every day. Thanks again, and thanks for this thread which has been very enlightening. Ann
octoberdana Posted August 3, 2014 #56 Share Posted August 3, 2014 This is my dilemma. Our cruise is in 13 days. My dh drinks a lot every night. He will need either 1.5 bottles of wine or 8-9 beers. Calculating that he would need 2 buckets of beer which would be $46 per day, wondering if it would be better to get him the all-inclusive? He would have to do more drinking out in the MDR but I wonder if it would end up being cheaper. Can he get a glass of wine and take back to the cabin? I might have 1 drink a night, I'm not a big drinker.
Talisker92 Posted August 3, 2014 #57 Share Posted August 3, 2014 We were on the Golden Princess in February, and I purchased the 12 bottle wine card. It is quite a saving. We used it in the MDR, Sabatinis and the Crown Grill. The bottle can be shared, unlike a drinks package. I believe you cannot use it in Vines. But, we bought a bottle in Vines and filled up on tapas and sushi. The Elites have appetizers every night in Skywalkers. I ordered a $5 mojito at the bar there, but had to add my own rum to make it taste right!
Direwolves Posted August 3, 2014 #58 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Like most of you, I have considered getting this package, but I don't know when I would find the time to drink enough to make it worth it. I am in my mid 30's and in denial. I still believe I am in my 20's ... so I am jumping off the boat before it is moored on port days and swimming to catch it after it has left. On sea days it could be worth it since we are sitting around reading and talking to strangers. Go Princess Cruiser's!!fb
Keioki Posted August 3, 2014 #59 Share Posted August 3, 2014 So I'm a bit confused. Can 2 people share one unlimited drink package? Or do they enforce the one card per person rule? It would work out well if we only had to buy one card. Otherwise, I'd be fall down drunk by day three trying to make it pay off.

Wavelet Posted August 3, 2014 #61 Share Posted August 3, 2014 My DH and I just returned from the Mediterranean last week on the Emerald. Like most of the posters, we toyed with the purchase go the AIB because of the number of days we would have to purchase (14). We looked at the spreadsheet another post created and decided we'd try it. Both my DH and I purchased it. We figured since we had a lot of sea days it would be worth it. I am not a big drinker, but I did try a lot of different drinks that I normally wouldn't have. We usually went to Vines before dinner and had a glass (or 2) of wine and either tapas or sushi. When we were going into port we'd get a couple bottles of water to take with us. We'd go to the IC daily for a specialty coffee or tea. To summarize, we probably came close to breaking even compared to paying per drink. We are planning on purchasing the pkg again on subsequent cruises. It was nice to be able to know ahead of time that every drink, alcoholic or not, was already paid for (we pre purchased before boarding).I tend to be more frugal than my husband and if I were paying for each drink as it is consumed I probably would not have been as adventurous with the alcoholic, specialty coffees and teas. The only case in which we would not purchase the pkg would be if the itinerary was very port intensive. Our cruise was almost half sea days. Not just alcohol. :) All-Inclusive Bar Package Take advantage of our All-Inclusive Beverage Package which includes any individual beverage item, such as soda, water, cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, coffee and tea, up to $10 (retail value). Bottles of wine are NOT included in the package; however, when purchased in the bars, dining rooms, or in the stateroom, will be available at a 40% discount from the menu price. Applicable to all bottles below $100 retail. Note: This package is available for consumption at all bars, public areas and dining venues (not room service and excludes mini bar items). Package is not currently offered on Dawn, Sea and Sun Princess. Item #0525 $56.35 per person/per day
Shaf143 Posted August 3, 2014 #63 Share Posted August 3, 2014 After running the spreadsheet I am getting the AIB and my DW isn't. We do usually have abottle of wine with dinner and the 40% will help ofset. I like single malt so we should not have any trouble hitting the cost. pablo222 Posted August 3, 2014 #64 Share Posted August 3, 2014 We do usually have abottle of wine with dinner and the 40% will help ofset. Wine-by-the-bottle is an interesting case, as everyone you care to share with benefits from the package, while only one person needs to purchase the package. This must endlessly annoy the purists here.

This must endlessly annoy the purists here. It's a pity jd, by the bottle is not included :D . The inclusive drinks total for our upcoming 17 day cruise would be around $2500. For three of us, it would save numerous trips to the bar if we could get away with just one of us going for all inclusive. ;) we're not cheap by any means but we would have to be very thirsty or just greedy to justify this option. Scouse cruiser Posted August 3, 2014 #67 Share Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) But if you like wine by the bottle then all can share on 1 card. Drinks package, around $2500. A bottle of average and overpriced wine for say $50 - 40% works out about $30 say four glasses of wine  Edited August 3, 2014 by Scouse cruiser

You should have got the daily drink/appetizer card in your cabin each trip after you reached platinum.
