This may be a stupid question, but it's been years since my last cruise and I can't remember....When playing slots, you just use your Sail & Sign card and nothing else?

For example, say I put $200 on the card at boarding, I can just stick the S&S card into the slot machine and play on that $200? (assuming I buy nothing else on it) No need to withdraw cash at all to play?

They will love you!!!

I hope enough to let me win some of it back lol.

I'm guessing the S&S card will have a way to "activate" it's use on the slots like a PIN or something, in the off chance I drop it without noticing and some lucky but dishonest passenger picks it up and sticks it into the nearest Wheel of Fortune machine?

Yes, When you first put your card into the machine, it will ask you to choose a PIN

You cannot put slot money on your Sail & Sign card at embarkation. Carnival will not take your gambling money until you are in international waters which is typically an hour or 2 after you set sail after embarkation. After the casino opens, and you will know this because they will turn on the slot machines for play, you can simply insert your cash into the slot machine, play as much of it as you want, and then you can upload what you have left in your machine onto your S&S card. When you do this, you will be prompted by the machine to set up your 4 digit PIN. Once you have uploaded your remaining funds, you can then insert your S&S card in another machine and transfer the money off your card and into that next machine. When you decide you don't want to play anymore, which for most of us is the last night of the cruise, then you can take your S&S card to the casino cashier and show your photo ID to get what you have left on your card back in cash.

This player's account on your S&S card is separate from your onboard account although you use the same card for both. You can also get money to play on by charging your S&S card while it is in the slot machine. The machine has separate buttons to push to make that happen.

Hope that makes sense. Have fun playing.

Yes, this clears things up a lot. I had no idea it was set up this way, so i'm glad to learn this in advance so I don't make any goof ups. Thanks!

(An oxymoron for someone like me...LOL!)...but....

It seems that at-sea slot payoff/percentage/regulations don't "exist" like they do in on-land casinos. Wins are REALLY random and just when you think something is "getting hot" or "gonna hit...I can feel it" that's about the time I should go back to the buffet! :D

I've also wondered whether I've a slightly better edge (under the house's edge, of course) with a regular 6-deck Blackjack shoe than the ongoing shuffling thingie....maybe it's me, but after seeing the lid off and all the cards in all those various sections "randomly shuffling" and losses being more frequent than with the shoe, it just seems peculiar.

Having said all that, have fun. Have a limit...and I hope you WIN BIG! :)

We have noticed that the majority of slots now no longer have the coin holder when a person hits on the slot machine. I miss the sound of coins falling down into the tray, then putting the coins into the big bucket & taking the coins to the casino cashier. It is more efficient nowadays the way the slots have evolved from the way it used to be but for some reason that sound was a good exciting sound !

On thing I noticed from my first trip on the Sensation earlier this month was that when you obtain money from your S&S card in the slot machine, Carnival does not charge your a fee. However, if you try to obtain money at a card table there is a 3% charge.

I like to play blackjack and just charged it at a slot, went to the cage and got the money off the card and headed to the table. There wasn't a casino fee of 3% and obviously no ATM fees.

Good luck!

Our last cruise my husband got so wrapped up in playing the slots WITH his card that I checked the casino balance and was blown away...told him to use cash..that was it wasn't as easy ..or fun to lose when you saw what you were putting in the machine...don't need a casino bill as much as our bar tab!!!
