Is an upgrade from VE to VB worth it?

THe only difference is location, generally the closer mid-ship the higher the category. That's not everyone's idea of "better", though. Check the location's on the ship you're thinking about and decide for yourself if it's better. The cabin configurtion, though, will be pretty much identical.

I belive all of the "Vx" Cat cabins are on the Vista class ships.

In that case:

ALL CAT VE Cabins appear to be on the fore and aft "wider" sections on the ship, on the Veranda Deck (5).

CAT VB cabins can be found:

1) The fore and aft (wider) sections on the Upper Veranda Deck (6) one deck up, same locations as VE cabins.

or

2) Fore and aft part of the middle (narrow) section of the ship on the Upper Promenade deck (4) - view obstructed by life boats.

For ME I wouldn't consider it much of an upgrade. If you can pick the cabin and want to move up a deck, go for it. I wouldn't risk getting a smaller, obstructed view veranda however, if you can't pick the cabin.
