barney50 Posted July 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2014 I have booked a Scandanavia and Russia cruise for 27th July 2015 on Silhouette. I am just back from an Eastern Mediterranean on Reflection. The water was very smooth for 90% of the time. Can anyone tell me what kind of seas I may expect? Barney
wendyam76 Posted July 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Hi Barney So enjoyed meeting you onboard! I think it depends on your luck regarding the seas. When we did a Baltic cruise 4 years ago the seas were really calm and the weather beautiful - only cool day was in Gothenburg, Sweden. You will love this cruise. There might be occasional thunderstorms if the weather is hot, but they usually do not last long time.
bubblesqueaker Posted July 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2014 Hi Barney, we did this itinerary last year. There was one night when it was a bit windy and there was a very, very slight sway but that was it. If you have done the Larne - Stranraer then it will be wee buns! coolmom Posted July 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 21, 2014 Just back from the July 8th sailing on the Connie. The North Sea was unusually rough the first night ( according to the crew) but when we reached the Baltic, it was smooth sailing. Bring suntan lotion and hats! My DH and I agree that we had better weather in the Baltic than on any of our Caribbean cruises.

The weather was reasonable for the first part and brilliant for the latter part but the sea was calm throughout.
micruiser12 Posted July 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 21, 2014 We were there last month in June. Baltic Sea smooth as glass. North Sea a little rough for the one day.
Wineart Posted July 21, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 21, 2014 We've done the Baltic itinerary twice, once in May and once in July. The July trip had very rough seas (even DH, who normally has a cast iron stomach, was looking a little green). However, we were on one of the Oceania R-ships, which are relatively small and therefore more likely to feel the effects of rough seas. The May trip was on one of Celebrity's M-class ships, and we felt no effects at all. As long as you're on a larger ship, I wouldn't be concerned with rough seas.
