Ft. Lauderdale Oceanfront Hotel

It's actually no longer a Doubletree... It's now just independant, named "Oceanfront Hotel". It's about 5-10 minutes into Port Everglades. The location is great, it's close to the Water Taxi stop as well as plenty of restaurants. I haven't been in that one, but a friend who was recently wasn't impressed.

We stayed there in May. You'll pay for valet parking (the cost varies, depending on the events that are happening at the time). This was a cause of many complaints when we were there. The hotel tried to charge an extra overnight parking fee of $50 per night to a guest who was checking out after a two night stay. Another guest had a flat tire due to the valet's parking their van on a curb. The room was okay, but nothing special. The view was nice, because we were able to watch the cruise ships leave Port Everglades, but the condensation of the ac on the floor above us dripped on us while we were on our balcony. The location is good, because it's a short walk along the beach to get to many restaurants, and lots of fun people-watching. Personally, I'd stay somewhere else.

Was it clean? and can you walk to a liquor or grocery store near by? What restaurants are in the walking distance? Thanks! :)

There are no real grocery stores anywhere near there. There is however a mini-mart, and a liquor store within walking distance. There are several different sidewalk cafe type restaurants along the beach you can walk to.

i don't know what your budget is.....but we were recently at the pelican beach and it was awesome. it is right on the beach, has a nice pool with a lazy river and the room (an oceanview suite) was gorgeous. the food in the restaurant was great and priced well. if this is in your price range....2 thumbs up!!!
