Guadalest?

My husband and I took this excursion through Royal Caribbean and loved it. The price was affordable ($40 per person), and much less expensive than anything we likely could have booked privately. The route (90 minutes each way) took us along the coast, near the Benidorm, and then up a winding road to Guadalest, where there were stunning views, little shops, small restaurants, and quaint museums. It was a great place to spend a leisurely Sunday.

Guadalest is not for people with mobility issues, however. Pathways are cobbled and often steep. The excursion itself is basically a round-trip bus ride with a short restroom/shopping/refreshment break, the latter being freshly squeezed Valencia orange juice.

We enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it.

Guadelest is beautiful and you should visit if you can. I've been while holidaying in the area, not on a cruise ship. The village has some stunning views over the valley and is a wonderful place. It's not a working village any more, it's given over to tourism but that doesn't detract from its beauty and appeal. It's lovely to spend a morning or afternoon wandering about and there are plenty of little shops and cafes to rest in and enjoy the views.

Just to be clear. A guide provides light commentary during the bus ride, and once in Guadalest, leads you up some steep steps to the main part of the village. From there, the guide tells you what time and where to meet the bus for the return trip and sends you off for several hours to do what you want at your own pace. We took this excursion last October and had plenty of time to wander around, snap photos, eat tapas and drink sangria. The setting was lovely, picturesque, and peaceful.
