TUI Cruises Expansion

Recommended Posts

TUI Cruises have announced another two new builds, delivery 2016 and 2017.

Once the merger goes through, it would suggest it is becoming more likely that Thomson may get MS1 or 2, or maybe the expansion into the UK market may now happen. Either way, they are definitely expanding their product.

why not have another two arriving in 2018 and 2019 and allocated to Thomson.

Why should the britiish always have others cast offs?

I don't rate the new builds though. The casino cosistes of a few slot machines and no tables

no tables!

"On Mein Schiff 3 we are going to offer a wide selection of popular slot machines as well as automated Roulette and blackjack."

no tables or dealers it seems

I am being serious here but if there are no roulette wheels or dealer dealt blackjack and poker I would not touch the ship with a barge pole. If the industry thinks it is a good idea to get rid of dealers I will be looking elsewhere for a holiday.

ps - the 'casino' is about 20 slot machines and one of those video poker type tables with 5 seats. Thats it! Would not go down well on Thomson where i have seen people almost fighting to get on the 5 card poker table.

But surely, IF Thomson did get MS 1 or 2, they could make a proper casino?

I don't gamble myself, probably because years ago I was shown the HUGE house where our local bookie lived and told that's what you can get by being a bookmaker :D :D

I think MS1 and 2 do have 'proper' casinos?

Ms 3 and 4 have their 'casino' as part of the cigar smoking lounge which, of course, would not be allowed on a Thomson ship.

tbh a casino full of slot machines is not a casino its an arcade isnt it?

there does appear to be some sort of trend emerging? surely the casinos must be making money on the tables?

for some reason? thoms have made the casinos smaller over the years....more machines, less tables

in my experience the tables get pretty busy sometimes (especially in caribbean)

only 2 card tables on dream (blackjack & poker) then some punters are sitting there playing 2 (or more) boxes...... others want to sit only at their 'lucky box' so we all shuffle around and around again! meanwhile a queue is forming in the limited space (between the slot machines) behind you

the casino now consists of a corridor to the kids club

nearly always someone is breathing down your neck bashing you with their handbag or spilling beer down the back of your neck while giving you some whispered 'sage' (unwanted) advice

or...... they commandeer both tables for the tournaments which they seem to have every night now? so you have to wait an hour or so (listening to a mash up of the clanging slot machines the pianist next door and rhianna on a loop on the speaker above your head) before entering the scrum to get a seat....only to find that you are now sitting at someone’s lucky box!

oh why, oh why cant they have a spare table and a bit of open space like they did on destiny (get rid of that huge elvis singing thing? that i have never seen anyone playing on?)

Fun isn't it

they don't have extra tables because that would mean employing an extra dealer and although the casino can get extremely busy there are lots of quiet periods as well.

For example on P&O Oceana (2000 passengers) the casino has 2 roulette wheels and blackjack, 3 card poker and fun 21 tables. I have never seen anyone play fun 21 which is only fun for the house as it is not a good deal!.

Once on Thomson, I can't remember the ship, the demand for 5 card poker was so large that they removed the dealer from the blackjack table and opened another 5 card. I became very popular when I asked the manager if i could play blackjack. He had to tell the punters on the 2nd poker table that it was closing because 'this gentleman' wanted to play blackjack. Of course the casino had to open the blackjack table because it is one of the games offered, not just offered if no one wanted to play the mindless violence brain dead game ( 5 card)

Blackjack is the most skillful card game and if you play it properly you may not lose much money. On my 22 cruises I have seen less than 10 players who played well.

yes...often walked in to find both tables playing the mindless 5 card game? does seem very popular??

its blackjack or nothin for me.....dont you find it rather irritating tho, when your dealer doles out 'handy tips'? (like insisting that you split 2 tens! ....especially when he is showing an ace!?)

i have been into casinos ashore...they never speak (unless spoken to)...or even make eye contact:cool: (often free drinks too):cool:
